Dreams: Risk of the Familiar

Understand the woman in me,
Like I love the man in you.
I need your strong arms around me,
Till my dreams and the night are through.

I need you close beside me,
All things now become new.
Confusion there in shadows.
Attempts to cloud my view,
And once again I risk familiar thoughts,
To find what's true.

A heartache caught me,
Looking up and seeing lights.
The tears could not keep them,
Beyond my sight.

I reached out a hand to touch,
The jewel within my grasp,
With a silent prayer of hope,
Still reeling from the last....
This flight, too, will pass.

At night I dream of oceans green
And violet ribbonned sky
And places I have only lived
In another time gone by....

And I dream of you....
In most familiar ways.
The kindness in your eyes,
The tenderness in your hands,
The way your smile lights up a room,
And the truth and calmness,
Inside your voice.
When you say, "I understand"

Understand the woman in me,
Like I love the man in you.
I need your strong arms around me,
Till my dreams and the night are through.

You have expressed the needs of every woman  ~ love and understanding--and in such a stellar and poetic manner. Thank you, Sherry!

~ May these womanly needs be met for you forevermore...

Hi MagicMystery. Very interesting poem. I love the theme. The way you pulled the verses together is neat too. Bravo and well done. Thank-you for taking the time to read my poetry too. I just had to look at yours after seeing you were from Toronto. Sometimes I get so homesick...it is nice to meet someone from back there. It's been 5 years since I've got to traipse around Toronto. I came back for a visit this past July...but the big SARS scare stopped me from entering the city itself. Anyway I am sure that does not interest you. I just wanted to share the smile you have given me this morning. Thanks - Kevin.

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!

Kevin, Thank you for your heartfelt reply.  And I do understand about missing a place.... I am originally from Windsor, Ontario, just across the River from Detriot Mich. but I haven't been there for a year (since I packed up my family and moved them here.... I left friends and family behind.. anyway.... I wouldn't have let the SARS thing scare me.... it was pretty much under control by July.  I hope you get the chance to visit again soon.  I know what it's like to miss a place.

Linda ~~~thank you~~~  I am so glad you liked it!!!  it took me the better part of the night to animate both the background and the title pic.... what I didn't expect is that it was gonna move to the beat of the music!!!  I am kinda proud of that..... thanks for checking it out and reporting that it is function the way it looks to me.

Sherry
