Wafting softly through his senses,
knowing she must be within him
as he slept peacefully.

A small twitch tattling on the still
form showing life within tired limbs of
a slumbering poet. A quill resting
within a hand,  sporadically moving,
still composing a prize yet to be
seen and shared.

What might a soft twitch foretell of
him?  One who sleeps silent to the world
outside shuttered windows of a
cottage, nestled high among
whispering pines.

Gently touching an arm,  raising the soft hairs
with a delicate fingertip.  A smile within her
eyes as she grazed a kind soul.  Sleep covers
passion that lies briefly dormant,  awaiting a
stir of coals and the heat of breath to
again feed the fires to a raging torrent.
One now tempered by middle age.

Darting eyes behind weathered lids,  moving
to and fro.  Searching the veil of mist for
a glimpse of a gown,  opaque,  yet flowing
gently to the wisp of a breeze.

Slowly,  ever slowly she kneels beside him,
admiring one she has loved in life, in dreams...
held closely to a beating chest as shivers
brought the flesh to rise in bumps...

She shudders...remembering yet another night,
where candles fell slowly into the cooling
pool of light's wax and shadows danced
walls above...as sighs,  gentle sighs...
graced delicate ears.

And a tear falls...as a door softly closes
behind her. Time is nigh. Her muse,  giggling,
awaits the soft touch of passion which shall flow
the clear waters this eve...

Wonderfully descriptive writing...
me thinks you could turn this into a prose piece and tell even more of a story.
Romanticly lovely penning poet sir

You're the color of the sky reflected in each store-front window pane ...
You're the whispering and the sighing of my tires in the rain.

Barry,
You were flying with the angel for a moment.
Well done.

Methinks the Brothers Grimm had a third
brother that still haunts literary pages
making sure
their name never dies...

Keep weaving, the woman in the cottage
has her spindle set to gold.

Will the wind ever remember the names
it has blown in the past with
its crutch its old age and its widsom
it whispers no this won't be the last

Barry, as always, I was right there, seeing
everything as I read it. Oh how I wish that
I knew how to write the way you do. I saw back
in CA where you said that you read a lot of  poetry writing books.
What are the names of some of them? I've bought some books,
but would like to buy more.
Thanks, my friend
Hugs
Ethel

For some reason, this poem has stayed with me, so I have decided to put it in my library...

you don't mind, do you?
