Questions
~ By Sue ~

Questions come to mind
Does a child owe the parents
For her entire life
Having to take care of them
Leaving no time for herself

Now that really is a question, and one that would depend on the family, I suppose. I think the answer would lie in the people involved...or is there really any answer at all?  This is a very contemplative write, and I admire you for asking it...~S~

I'll be short: NO, not if this means you have to give up your own life.

Parents sometimes forget that grownup children have their own lifes to live.

But then...that's my opinion.
I never put pressure on mine to come visit me and you know what....they love me for that. Besides...I would go nuts if they would stand on my doorstep every five minutes LOL

Good question Sue.

like Titia, I'd say if you have to give up your life for your parents...NO...and if they squander you're growth at your loss without a return..NO too. I am however, by nature a very thoughtful and conscientious person understanding the problems of loneliness and old age.

I'm a parent and I know I don't want to burden my sons. I don't want to weigh them down with me when they have cares of their own. So I would think your parents wouldn't want that either. I don't think they are much different than we are. They babysat us so I think it's only honorable we do the same for them, but we all need a night out and they had their nights out...so turnabout is fair play. I loved this write, because sometimes it's easy to get lost in *giving* and then not taking anything for yourself. Sorry but I just feel so strongly they made sacrifices for us so we should return in like manner.
Love,
Terri~
