Thanks everyone, i usually don't offer explanations but i thought I might for this. The title/poem has a twofold meaning. The first is a reference to the tale of Acteon the hunter. Acteon stumbled upon the goddess Diana bathing in the river. Diana in a rage at being caught nude by a mere mortal turns Acteon into a stag who is then hunted by his own dogs. The second meaning refers to how through studying my religion i've exposed or chanced upon some truths that 'stripped' if you will, any power and awe the faith held for me. That's me in a nutshell..no wait this is me in a nutshell..help! what am i doing in this nutshell..it's enormous no... name that movie or what mental disorder i suffer from yessss |

Raph, for someone who writes such short poetry...which always has a far greater meaning...you continue in your classic style and feel...which I would assuredly expect...(for anything else just would not be you) Thanx for the explanation, very helpful, enlightening. |

Your explanation does help to draw the connection between the hunter then and the modern day hunter or yourself in hunter's boots...keep up the references to the early classics,in my opinion so many of us just can't get beyond the 'veneration of goddess' phase even today in some way or form...strangely enough Martin [This message has been edited by ecrivan (10-27-2003 12:10 AM).] |
