there's a story in those weeds,
but it's not always what we see in the writing on the walls

good to read you again

It's about time you showed up.
Very visual images here, Mark,
along with a sense of hopelessness.

Until those hands
get busy.

So much can be accomplished
with a hand, or two.

(big hugggsssssss) No district should ever look like this, and it is time we make a difference and urban renewalize the lives of the less fortunate with a warm gifting hand! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Mark, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Dixie:  Yup.

Indeed, Kacy, for not everything can be read but must actually be experienced...  Good to be back for a bit.

meteoraLP, thank you.

Sunshine:  Perhaps there's wisdom in the old saying "The Devil will find work for idle hands"...?  Thanks for reading.

pandonov:  Thank you, Sir -- such is my goal as often as possible...

Nancy, you are too kind.  Just a passing image with a lingering thought...

Noah:  I agree.  Where do we begin?

What a superb write!   A sense of hopelessness and helplessness rises from your images.  Hands folded, spirits broken.  Good God, this was excellent.  You know, Mark, I was a social services caseworker for a brief time (very brief...my heart could not take a daily breaking and I couldn't get the image of folks out of my head at night).  I saw this hopelessness, this helplessness and understood.  But the system ties your hands. If they are eligible for Food Stamps, Medicaid, or Temporary Assistance (referred to once as Welfare) then give it to them and send them on their way. What a way to perpetuate the feeling of helplessness. The frustration was too much for me.  So, I think it starts with caring and understanding, and a change of expectation.

Sorry this is so long...you got me on a soapbox this morn.

Terri:  Prayer?  Perhaps...  Meditation and honest introspection as well...

Patricia...  I'm moved by how this simple write affected you going to show that subjective interpretations are at least as important (and sometimes WAY more important) than the author's intent.  I can only imagine what you describe must have been like and admire your atempt at making a positive change.  I believe that the solution is in eliminating the word "expectation" from our vocabulary and for each individual attempting to do their best in affecting a positive change in their surroundings, even in some small way...  Thanks for the thoughts.
