Grandpa used to take me fishing
when I was just a little girl
and Oh I would get so excited
everytime I had a nibble.
I'd be so patient waiting
for that fish to take the bait
time after time I'd yank
that hook right out of its mouth.
Then the little girl tears would come.
He would patiently take
my hands and show me
how to feel.
And finally, finally I
caught a fish.
And he said
"Now thats a keeper, child."

I'm all grown up now
Grandpa's passed away
and I've been trying to
get over a heartache.
You've been so very patient
as I've tried to find myself
never rushing in to make
things better
letting me find the
right way to grow.
You gently take my hands
and show me how to feel again.
Grandpas' voice sings in my heart
"Now that's a keeper, child."

I just love family poetic tales~
Lots of my own childhood memories popped up during the read~

very sweet...I have a memory of my grandfather sitting there and peeling an apple in one long piece..then handing it to me to eat..I still try  to do that  to apples myself...just to see if I can.

Nice thoughts Paula, great title

I have similar memories with my father. Thank you for bringing them back to me!

This is a lovely portrayal of those special times with your grandfather. He's smiling down from his celestial cloud as he reads your words...

to you & to your divine grandfather!
