Flame of Love

A spark lights a candle in a room of dark.
A small flame starts life on a wick.
It flickers and wavers in the gloom.
As the wax drips down the candle's sides
The flame gains in strength spreading it's glow.

As I watched that candle, I thought of our love.
Like the flame it was sparked into existence.
There were moments that it almost went out.
But we cupped our hands around it
And provided a sanctuary of calm.

Today that candle of love burning in our hearts
Illuminates the path our future charts.

Scorpio~ You have filled the air with a heavenly scent indeed.

Much enjoyed the analogy and metaphors that you lit up your words with.

Tonight, you reminded me
of a poet...
                     Dave Smith

"The Wick of Memory"

You would
enjoy him.

Thank you!

Excellent,  and a beautiful ending to this..

I probably would have played with that last
line a little....but that would just be my
own thoughts...  I enjoyed your's,  and I
think this poem says a lot about team work
and commitments...

Reverently, as monks walk
you entered the dark and lonely
Temple of my soul
                to light a candle.

Beautiful words you have written tonight dear Scorpio.

Thank you for the inspire.

May the love you have for your lady
      shine brightly for all eternity.

~Soft smiles & tender hugs, Nancy~

Smith has been writing since 1970 and has 17 books of poetry out, and two fiction pieces, plus some other books.  He has twice been up for a Pulitzer Prize in poetry.

I met him two years ago at a poetry reading.  I truly believe you would enjoy his work.
