Just a quick note to say hi and I'm new around here! I'm 16 years old, and I'm enjoying reading all your work. So, my first offering... hope you like, despite the cliched ending! Don't Love Me Don’t go plucking at my heartstrings, Strumming gently that sweet song, When you know those dulcet notes Will not soothe my aches for long. Don’t go watering my flowers With these droplets of my tears, When you know the clouds will open, Drowning petals with my fears. Don’t go knitting me a blanket With those threads of words you told, When you know the yarn will tear And leave me shiv’ring in the cold. Don’t go building me a tower With these solid blocks of love, When you know the stone will crumble, Falling from the skies above. Don’t go making me a palace With bright jewels and silk and gold, When you know the glass will shatter, Splinters slashing up my world. Don’t go lifting up my spirit With that twinkle in your eye, When you know your gaze will harden, And will only make me cry… But your heart, it will not listen, Won’t stop rattling at my bars, Because you still ignite my sunshine And you still hang up my stars. So don’t stop plucking at my heartstrings, Keep on strumming day by day, And maybe then I’ll realise… Your love is here to stay. |

You're probably sick of hearing this by now, but welcome to passions! I loved the imagery you used, and way this flowed so easily... reminded me of a song by J Lo 'Promise me You'll Try' check out the lyrics if you have some time! The soul would have no rainbows, had the eyes no tears. |
