Today is unlike any other day, my present has collided with my past
I never would have guessed it to end like this, finally having some sort of peace at last
Though I found out everything I knew, was in fact only a lie
I still am left with one question. Why?

Why do those in our lives try to protect us so much, that when we find out the truth it burns
All I wanted when I was a child was to know what happened, something I had always yearned
Today now I know...answers I've been seeking for so long now
The truth isn't what I had expected though somehow

I've carried inside such hate for a man I barely knew
Throughout all these years, the intensity of that only grew
Now I find out, my anger was indeed greatly misplaced
Can we somehow gap this distance, this unbearable empty space?

They say what we don't know can't really hurt us, at least not deep inside
Maybe that is how people justify covering things up, finding new ways to hide
All I know is I need to set things right once and for all
I will follow my heart, and let it lead me with it's persistent call

"love is like a butterfly--
if you chase it,
it will surely fly away,instead
hold it close and watch it grow into
something beautiful"

Sometmes things may not seem to make sense, because the heart says one thing, and logic and reasoning says something else, so I know what that's like. Very confusing. I hope all get's straightened out for you soon.
God Bless,
Terri~

Very reflective and insightful poem I
agree, sometimes truth between heart and mind is very difficult to discern...I wish you much luck...

God bless,

Persistence is a good thing,
and hate,  an awful cross to bare.
You know I love your writing lady.
I wish you peace of mind and in your heart.

Hugs for you Dear Amy~
