Sadness
comes upon burdened wings
when words are seldom seen
and never heard.  When the
door stands mute to the knock
upon the grain.

The unseen smile, one which catches
my mind’s eye...not there to grace
the pastures of my heart.

Laughter, once echoing the walls,
as silent as the steeple of a church
with no bell to ring or bats
to scurry
into
    the night’s air.

When a friend is missed....
sadness falls like frozen rain
upon the river’s edge...as
a current of concern washes
the shore away.

Yes...yes it does...

Yes it is true.

Very nicely done.

(Just noticed your last name, I went to bootcamp with a Pam Tackett, not a common name)

Sounds like sad days, not hearing from a friend you care about. We worry about those we love, wonder if they are ok, just a note or a quick call makes a difference. Seems like such a personal write, I wish you all the luck with your friend. Very nicely written.

Some wonderful works in these last days Barry.  Our minds move in like waters apparently.
Not to worry...friends never stray far from the heart. Great Write. TD

i know the feeling :Þ love, in any form, hurts and heals....friends are why we write

i think that it's brainless to assume that making changes to your window's view will gain a new perspective.

You never miss
an opportunity
to tell us
what's in your heart.

Thank you, my friend.

Hurt to read this. So close to home. If it helps ..here's a hand to just squeeze when you need to. It's there. Maybe I'm a stranger, but I'm not when I feel so much the same. Godspeed for your pain. I hope it swiftly finds it's way out of your existence. I know it takes alot from you.

Yes...and so often, the friend (or other) may be present in the physical and yet the words remain unsaid, unseen.

A great write, Barry!  I think I will go back once more for another read.
