Who will care for
these stranded ones?
I wonder why they even stay the cold
when they are gifted with the power
I can only reap thru intoxication,
or poetic imagination,
they are wed to the stoic rocks they sit upon
painted into a muted watercolor,
granite statues of grey,
with black disc like eyes
they watch the magician's movements,
as they peruse me
and clock me for scraps,
I am the queen of this court
and they, my subjects,
I grant them a reprieve
from the rusty garbage pails
where they stall their hunger
on leftovers of a tourist's last suppers,
on a 99 cent loaf of white,
I feed their empty bellies,
what a sport I am!
as if my sins will all wipe away
if i bless these creatures,
so i play god with them,
then taunt them
"now u see it ,now you dont"
I am beauitufl and evil
on the same toss of the hand,
when I run empty of all but a plastic bag,
like a mothers breast deflated of milk,
I become anyonymous again to them
until the next time,
as they fly off now
thankless,
as I track them,
me now the one
with her face to the sky
looking for crumbs of insight,
hints of what doorways
they tap upon on a bird's flight,
as if they even care
if they ever enter the dreams
of a man they'll always love

*o if just to be one with them, if only for a day,
to leave this wretched life of ours and just to sail away***************************

Sometimes they want the Staff of Life, and sometimes a lively staff -- each can be arranged for, and in much the same way!

This is such an expressive piece -

'me now the one
with her face to the sky
looking for crumbs of insight,
hints of what doorways
they tap upon on a bird's flight,
as if they even care
if they ever really touched someone
deeply enough ,
inside.............'

I adore these thoughts and thank you for sharing~

Where do you find the time to squeeze so much imagery into one literary piece??? Well done, once again.
