That warming ripple that eludes the eye in caverns sub
A kind of welcome to the world of fires hidden of
Too quickly grazed, negated to be less than what it is
The very nature of a most attractive power this

Provocative in ways that seem to echo silken sheath
The kind of recognition that will make the heart believe
So simply and so often disregarded as a thrill
The very essence of a love that pulses even still

That sensual remembrance in the less of seen expose
A talented, remarkable occurrence when it shows
Uncovered only after visibility has cleared
The very undergarment of true passion shyly sheered

Perhaps so few have felt it, as to make it mystical
Drawn upon the surface only after shadows fall
In the see through of emotions such a glitter to behold
As to warm the soul completely and replenish loves enfold

Understated indeed....What wonderful metaphors to bring the complexity of the theme alive.

Understated, indeed.

This has layers that only a practiced eye
may perceive.

Almost like
a chocolate torte...

a delightful read, Miss Kathleen...

I indeed found such meaning here, Kathleen.  I do know that this poem has been on the forums for a couple of days now...each time  I logged on, I meant to stop, but something always got in my way.  I have to wonder now, if the universe held this one for the timing of your words couldn't be more perfect.

Understated, but beautifully overflowing with wisdom.
