Autumn’s Foil

I spread out thick
in the lap of the oak
so wide melting in moss
curling under its hug
a comforting place to wait
the trunk was aggressive
and heavy handed like
an old lover that knew me
it was the pealing back
the layers of forgotten
a lost child in a woman’s body
as the wind sighed
revealing every part of me
and stole my words
softly carving out paper
rolled tightly between branches
of the thinnest metal a coloring
of  red, and gold, and brown
melting me as the sound
of each tone deep
shimmering summer’s confetti
ringing defied gravity
dripping of liquid gold
while their glitter
danced on the wind
in the quiet fall gliding
in painful slow motion steps
to cover me as it’s canvas

The strength of the Oak comes from the spirit of the Earth.  You have touched the spirit of the Oak and so have given us a link to the strength of the Earth.  I congratulate you and thank you for sharing this perfect poetic image.

You're an artist, a painter, a sculpter, and so much more.

Helen, it's so good to read you again.  This is beautiful as you are and it's unanimous, you ARE an artist in everyone's eyes and maybe one day you'll take this stubborn Virgo's advice and get published finally!   The imagery, theme and expression in this is excellent.
