I cursed at the fumble of my tongue as
heels clicked the cool night.  Sensually
silhouetted by cheap neon, passing
lights of scurrying signs for hire.

You were there,   bruising a piece of earth
beneath black stiletto heels
where time stood shivering at the
fragrance of you outside a window.
The  stark stare of mannequin eyes
following, weeping to be free and
dance the dusk to dawn.

And I, prince of my dreams, dealer
of my destiny stand silent.   The clink
of lonely change telling a sad tale as
shutters ride squeaking wheels to the
cold walk.

Tomorrow....as pigeons roost the
fading sunlight and neon again hums
the still air....mannequins shall wait,
just as I
to dance
the dusk
to dawn.

Dang Barry...you're writing continues to grow and grow so quickly.
You've become so very polished...the 'sighs' come automatically.
What say I put on some WS and we dance the tango?

If I were a man
I would have wished
to write this...

Barry?
I love that line
and this reminded me
of NYC . . .
I dont know why
the streets the lights
the night . . .
dank sidewalks and steam . . .

Now..... this one bud..has become my favorite from you so far... here it seems you reach a bit deeper and there is a bit of real life grit to the images that speaks to me past the form and message to say..hey, I am real....

very nicely done sir.. VERY nice indeed
