Finally I convinced the one that I love,
That this love in my heart is true.
I promised I'd never again break her heart,
What if by mistake, I do?

So many decisions I made in the past,
So many times I made her feel small.
What if the man that I think that I am,
Is not the man I've become at all?

What if I'm stll that same shallow soul,
So filled up with my ignorant pride?
I love her, I need her, these things I know,
Though in the past, many times, she has cried.

I know that I've changed, I've turned a new leaf,
But my mind is full of worry and trial.
What if by chance, I've not grown at all,
And all of this, is just simply denial?

I think and I think, and I get more perplexed.
Again, she's given up everything for me.
If I should screw up, and cause her to regret,
Then what kind of man would I be?

Have I really changed, and aquired compassion?
Have I found for my life a new start?
Or is my mind so decietful that cruelly,
It would play this wicked game with my heart?

First you must be able to trust yourself, if you don't know your self, or cannot trust yourself, How is she going to trust you? Don't let your heart play games with your mind, don't let the mind rule the heart, there must be a perfect balance of both.

Just thoughts*

I do believe that you have "turned a new leaf" or you would not have been able to write of it so convincingly and with such emotion.

~ Have faith in your true and higher self--and your love for her.

Hello Joe

Your words are always so heartfelt.  I couldn't help but be reminded of the song "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak (one of my alltime favourites) as I read this.

Take care........Sue

with being as cautious as you are now, and thinking it through so much, I don't think theres a chance at all that you aren't compassionate. Just keep loving her
Excellent post
