Branch scribbles On impending winter skies... . Parent twigs with digit buds Hold promise tightly bound By cellulose intersects Of fiber knuckles, raised On wooden wrists. Far from now, in warming spring They will unveil their children leaves, Like unfurled finger tips. . Most children, of green season Have left to play in heaps Their clothing changing, Verdant to scarlet, then brown. But high above fly's one last flag A single crimson star that shines, Below an azure, autumn sky. * I Implore the north-wind Beg it, lose its petal hold and Send it pin-wheel-merry down; To join its former, (Dressed in fire) Siblings, on the ground. . end |
