The Book She Borrowed

It's only a book
she returned today,
but I've carried it
all day long.
Just a book
but even this,
even this
I can't put down,
must have with me,
in my hand, perfect.
See just here, page edges
wrinkled where her hands held them?
Reading in bed, the pattern says.
I ruffle the pages and --
a scent of her
imagined
the one that follows her
in my imagination,
clings to the edges of my mind,
the scentless scent every sense but one
tells me exists and
would be chamomile
if chamomile had hair of silk,
had eyes like fields of wildflowers at dawn,
if chamomile returned a book
that I must read again
or look a fool
for carrying it around unread
only because she touched it,
turned evey page and
held the cover in her hands,
read love into it,
blessed it to me with
an imagined air like chamomile....

Wow!  James,  I was walking down that narrow
isle with you....Yes,  the scent...certainly
it was there?  Right?

Nice write, thanx.

A lovely token...
something to rest upon
this eve...

well done, Sir.

And so I smiled as I read, seeing you holding her book, but what was most wonderful was that I could feel your thoughts. James, I am so glad I read this...this is a read I will remember.  I assure you.

Great work, my friend.

yeah James, this is just downright upliftingly wonderful.  I've felt that way, and you brought me back to it, if just for a moment. thank you.

Jamie...The love is so tenderly honest and human in this...I love it!  In fact, I have such a book...and  your poem made me realize just how very special it is.

An incredible love pours through these lines... When something is so treasured because it rested in her hand, she's a very cherished, very lucky lady indeed.
Beautiful work!

James, I started this reply over so many times, because this write made me think so much of when my Love and I part from seeing each other. I can't even begin to write some of those things here that he and I do....and don't do.....
