The Land of the Dadaists

the young man sat on the mellowing stone
his eyes reflected the past, his troubled
sighs dwindled on all the dead daughters'
eyes reflected in the lake of regret. As he stared
autumn's leaves tumbled about him and drowned

he thought of how quickly he'd grown
too quickly. how vast the past doubled
back to remind him of his slaughters
the cruel-headed daughters he'd dared
and the dark-hearted kings that he'd crowned
