conscripted
blood is gathering
turning curlicue inside
feeding from the atmosphere
lies
or just what's kept inside
tending to the pain of that
relentless
knocking in persist
this--it is--
just like the kiss--
reaching simultaneous
as I draw my cloak
retreat
draping bells
across the feet
painting smile
upon my face
lines in bold
to widen eyes
in mockery of innocence--

stare into the sun and fry
tracing a transparency
of patterns
laid like tiles before
the audience behind the light
applauds
and stands as curtain falls.

Dim the spot
and wipe the dust
from the lens of fantasy...
The fringe of velvet
arisen--
naked now I stand alone
touch a hand
across my heart
curtsey
grateful to the floor
another silver soldier dies
slithering from downcast eye
a suspect now
because I smiled.

"Oh..." the hands clap red relief.
Knowing glances of astute
whispering in wise asides:
"All part of the act."

Thanks Barry...

(and would this be the sound of one hand clapping?)

I guess I should go back to the laboratory and see what went wrong here. (serenity exits, calling for Renfield...)

I may be way off here, but I see sadness and torment in this, and maybe a hint of vulnerability...

(smiles) Encore, encore! (big hugggsssssss) It's all part of the act but the audience has the choice to clap with one or two hands! God Bless You, sweet friend, this is excellent, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Thanks all, and especially Edder. I've been trying to not write so cryptically lately as sometimes I just assume people KNOW what I'm thinking (other times I fool myself into thinking I am so clever as to be able to hide it too)

This was just a little something that popped out after pondering the old "All the world is a stage" saying...and yes, there is vulnerability, touched with a bit of cynicism from both the actor's point of view and the audience. A mutual wariness of trust, if you will.

Sigh. That's what I worried about making clear. Tsk. Failed again....thank gawd this ain't rocket science, eh?

Love you all!

"All the world is a stage"

and you know why?

Because there are those of us that just can't handle the truth...

So we lie, we act and we accept at times, so that we may enjoy what little sanity we have left...

Failed?  Maybe in what you thought you wanted to do here, but you, Karen, never fail with what you write...
