There Was A Time

There are times when my words
touch no one, but me.
Times when the mirror kisses me back
with a smile, probably in ignorance
of what the day has in store for me.

I hear you in every song,
some bring rise to tears,
once of sadness, now of remembrance
and I can even picture the dance, the hold,
the face close to mine
and I can sigh, knowing
there was a time.

I see you every day,
and there is no recognition
of what use to be, no butterflies wishing,
no flood of warmth wanting.
Still I dance each night
to the tunes of loving, remembering
that once...there was a time.

M

Maureen...you touch my heart deeply,
and bring a calm rhythm to the beat.
Thank you for sharing the time.

hugs you~

M, this is beautifully written sadness.
Time doesn't make the feelings go away, as some say.

Maureen, beautiful and sad at the same time.
This touched my heart, sweet lady.

Rosebud1229, sometimes I wonder  how 30 plus years of caring can eventually become just a memory.

Thank you Donna,

Lori, I was trying to write something a little less sad...*s

Midnitesun, well I am surprised at how little the feelings show anymore...
although the  inner thoughts are retained forever.

Ethel,
I am not sad when writing these feelings...I am actually smiling knowing there was a time that I felt loved.

And at least I have that memory...
Thank you for reading

Okay...this one is really well done nakdthoughts. It is sad and yet within the sadness there is the memory of better times. I like this a lot. It is so real and heartfelt.

Eventually the person becomes less painful than the loss of belonging...

Loved it!
