I have no idea why
you would want to get to know me
as I never stay in one place
or in one relationship
for very long and
all I ever see is the end
of the proverbial tunnel of LOVE,
never the points at which
one would want
to stop off
and remain a while.
Why?
I tend not to ask that question anymore.
And yet?
There is this faint glimmer of hope
that needles me constantly,
makes me want to turn around
and rest a moment longer than usual
on the road of give-and-take.
Perhaps, I have been asleep
at the wheel of fortune
and missed a right turn?

Angel, it's a really twisted road, one that I'm not sure I can safely travel.
Edder, LOL, maybe we should both look for new maps?

Or perhaps, your just looking for someone with a little more give, and a little less take...
Sometimes things just don’t work out all that great at those rest areas, along the way of our journey...
And so we learn to just keep on going, and not stop, unless we really have to...
But then again, sometimes we realize that, what’s the use of being on a journey, if we can’t appreciate
the drive for the trip...
Let alone all the nice scenery, along the way...

Kacy, the only idea, I don’t know why,

is...

Why anybody, wouldn’t want to get to know you?

You haven’t been asleep, and you haven’t missed  any turns...
You just haven’t come to that one red light yet...
The one that is emanating from that one special person’s heart...

And into yours...

Best Wishes, on a safe and wonderful drive, OK?

And hey, just remember to send us a postcard every now and again OK?...

Or else me and the fellah’s will have to round up a posse
and come lookin for ya...

lol

A write befitting the arrival of the full moon, most certainly a thought shared by many.Made me think of Jerry Jeff's "Jaded Lover".Especially the line "the only kind of man you ever wanted was the kind that you couldn't hold on to very long, sitting there crying like I'm the first one to go"...
I think alot of us tend to run when we start to feel vulnerable to the pain of love or rejection.Well I don't know why either just thought it was a expressive, heartfelt write that I had no problem relating with.

Live like it's your last day...
Dance like nobody's watching...
Love like you've never been hurt...

very intense and candid poem.  This I liked...and all of the caring comments left...may I add, that sometimes I think people run from relationships b/c it becomes to serious and the responsibility for someone else scares them to death.  It's ok as long as there are no expectations..and to, perhaps we become afraid that we might fail that person, and don't want to, so we run????

Great creative write, put into words by a very honest heart...thank you for sharing.

Soon enough, that little needling voice
will put on the brakes.

You'll know when...

You sound like every woman with whom I've shared a tube of toothpaste.  I have always thought it was just a gender trait in your generation.

Well written!

Morning ....
Read this and thought about several things...and then settled on the essence of hope... hope that we find the one who is indeed THE person and are able to enjoy those points along the road... hope that what ever it might be inside of us, that has for one reason or another been a part of ending relationships is finally understood and overcome...

and hope dear lady... that for you there is a lasting happiness and a life filled with love...

Richy, you are the compassionate tender loving brother I never had. (and I had three brothers)

Ray, I always liked that song line. Maybe because it is easy to relate to it?

Lee, thank you for your warm reply. Yes, there is much truth to what you say.

Karilea, smiling at you, always encouraging me to to stay a hopeful pathway.

Icebox, those tubes of toothpaste never lie, and they aren't generation or gender specific. LOL, thanks, my friend.

Ron, I keep my shades on in bright light, but still hope to recognize when the view in the alley is just right.

Oh Kacy, I absolutely loved this,
every single word went straight to my heart.

So clever and so true!!!
