Skylark           (A collaboration with Brother Ed)

On nights like these
when the sky is filled with moon

and the days' foggy exhalations
have settled dew-like

she sheds the city
as easily as she sheds her shoes

to dance.

This is a memory which does not pass her:

Should you ask her where she came from
she would answer like a sudden bell
a cry of tigers.

She is the "define-it-ely" kind
and lives among the roses.

The darkness calls her name
she does not see the moon
or rise of hill

but

through bough of thorns
she sees the death of day
a bitterness of tongue
a grail of flesh and kisses
in the sour:

Pacing in her trysting place
she's an uprooted seed
seeking deliverance

upon the night-wind

baring herself
to his airy caresses

straining to hear in the trees
his seductive whispers
his impatient demands
howling through the valley.

She awaits ¦

the wanted touching
that raises the flesh
like a water-lily
presented to the sun

she is more than
floating leaves and flowers

she is the last cry that
owns the universe.

Note: This poem was inspired by the notion of Rhiannon. Both the goddess, and the song.

What an awesome collaboration!  Each line more wonderful than the last.  As I read, I was in hope for another line to savor.

I do love this and have to agree with Edder.  CLICK...into my library as well!

very hypnotic....

loved it.

Ed and Maree . . .
*smile*

always writing so beautifully together
now I can never tell who wrote what
but this stanza stood out to me

through bough of thorns
she sees the death of day
a bitterness of tongue
a grail of flesh and kisses
in the sour:

Beautiful you guys
truly
You know my neice is named Rhiannon . . .
for the very same reasons
the birds of Rhiannon in Celtic lore
and Stevie Nicks . . .
*smile*

Beautiful , as always
a perfect melding

I think you both have circled the compass.

There is a bird...Skylark
Song...Skylark
Movie...
car...
book...

now, a poem.

I love the sharing of your inspiration as well, because when we share the basis of our inspiration...we allow others to think along another plane as well...we open doors for them...

You two.  I sit, am amazed, and profoundly humbled by the reading of this poem.

Yes, I do believe you've circled
the compass.
