The first poem here I had written and sent over to my friend EvocativeVerse2 who brought it up a notch.
Thank-you my friend. The second version is the first
poem EvocativeVerse2 and I did together.

And The Sandman Said....

The sandman said .... Come to me on this night
and we'll travel throughout,
Explore the dream of adventures already dreamt.
And the sandman said.... come to me on this night,
I'll sing you a lullaby of songs so warm and sweet
as you drift off to sleep.
For tomorrow
it too awaits.

- E. J. Griswold
Sandman

The Sandman

The Sandman said unto me, "Come this night.

We'll wander conjointly through dreamland."

His words bestowed the craft of second sight,

I knew for certain that I'd take his hand.

Then he whispered, "Let's pursue hopes unknown,"

And in a twinkling I'd forsaken my bed,

Upon the winds of bedlam I was blown--

--In a place where reverie's moored by thread.

Oh the rarities perceived, the jolt, the awe,

'Tis impossible to describe the love,

I saw a kingdom that was without flaw,

And delights I'd never even thought of.

'Twas then the morning sun caressed my face,

And woefully I slipped from his embrace.

wow, I like both versions. Very well done.
I wish the sandman would come and visit me! Seems he had his hands full last night though.

Always, Alyssa

Thank-you all for the wonderful comments.

The sandman doesn't come for me though.

Thank-you all again.

Very beautifully written!
And a lovely duet indeed.
