Riding the Dictionary

once there was
a river of words
but the current
changed
leaving reluctance
edgy on the banks
why is it
I feel
I have to
defend them
I own them
and the rapids
that runs free
in the feelings
that defines them
damn
maybe it is all
just a tide
in a pooled
vocabulary
misunderstood

Sometimes it does get down to that, doesn't it....and we choose our words without truly knowing what they mean, to the person we're talking to.

Sometimes when certain words get caught up
on a branch or in an eddy that can be a good thing...
Sometimes not...
All we can do is use the ones that are flowing through our
mind at the time we are trying to convey our truest feelings...

Where that river goes from there, and how it’s used, is pretty much
out of our control at that point...

I hope that your words never stop cascading into the stream Helen.
Without them, it just wouldn’t be the thriving life force, and source
of inspiration that you so help to make it, everyday...
