Intelligentsia

When the inverse of all starts to unfold,
And uncertainty tumbles e'en the bold,
They'll navigate through a misty curtain,
Committing to words what was uncertain.
Their dreams will not take amorphous shapes,
They'll leave behind lesser lights and seascapes,
For the high ground of profuse abstractions,
And 'tis there unhindered by distractions,
They'll swallow deeply from poetry's streams,
'Til their words are charged with sermonic themes.

These conquerors of the mind's last frontiers,
Will hear the vibrant music of the spheres,
And the colors that might spring forth from pearls,
May well vault into a whirlwind of swirls.
Yet 'tis the restless song of the oceans,
Which will incite their ardent emotions,
Wedded to an unending rhapsody,
Their skills they'll deploy on their prosody.
Their words though grounded in worldly concerns,
Are braced by whimsical spellbinding turns.

Maestros of retrospection and imprints,
Their musings are comprised of shades and tints,
They breathe life into sculptures of beliefs,
Repeating their themes in stunning motifs.
Juxtaposed against harmonized backdrops,
Life's idiosyncrasies are their props,
And contorted by their larger passions,
They follow not the commonplace fashions.
'Tis not the unexplored they'd represent,
But the ethereal realm of the moment.

Like the vibrant singing of blissful hymns,
Igniting the currents of their heart's whims,
Their soul's hungers they can only appease,
With the virtuous fire of expertise.
The literati pour onto the page,
A meter out of the Victorian age,
'Tis an abstraction of released vision,
But we will abide by their decision,
And come the dawning of the new morrow,
We'll read their rhymes of regret and sorrow.

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!

loved the metre and the style. Loved the words and almost understood them all except for this "prosody." I have no idea what that word means.

Prosody is the study of poetical forms, including accent of syllables, meter, and versification. Thank-you for the kind words Kethry!

Beautiful!

Kevin you have done a great job here ...
if the mind is "integrated" with the heart, then the results will be perfect, then the true poet will show ...
And I think you have put heart in this!

Your poetry is always an evocative and  interesting read. I also enjoyed the ease with which I was able follow your flow of thoughts.

Thank you Margherita, pandonov, and Earth Angel. I am glad someone gets this one. This was actually a very difficult write for me. Probably the hardest one ever. I am glad someone appreciated the effort.

This is just one of those poems..oh wow.

Beautifully captivating.

And palm to palm is holy palmers' kiss.--"Romeo and Juliet"
