Let the night wrap me in velvet wings
When the ancients walk and tell me things
Of times past and what might be
And unravel mysteries for me to see

When the wind bows grasses on hidden path
And night mist kisses with the lightest bath
Nay, not asleep for the soul will walk
Down to the valley where the breeze does talk

Senses acute to the spell of dark
Hearing the drums and the meadowlark
Seeing a shadow just beyond the sight
Knowing the dances will stop in light

In the now and then, it is always so
The unexplained, the night will show
If only the dreams will stay in the light
Of what I learned in my walk of night

Good flow and choice of words.  I liked the use of shawdows and light.  It was an easy and enjoyable read.

Beautiful walk in the night!

True poets don't write with the ink of quill or pen, but with the ink of their heart~

I do love when you whisper upon the wind in spirits rhyme. Another gem of pen and cadence poet sweet keeper.

"Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold."
"So dawn goes down to day ...
Nothing gold can stay."

I may be flattering myself, but as I read your words, I felt so at home...almost as though I had written them myself. I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful write--the rhythm--the message--and how it made me feel.
