beyond the doors of perception

Did you ever read M. Scott Peck's "The People Of the Lie"?  They are all in church Sunday morning, but you'd never know it when they close the doors to their homes.

Balanced on the point of reality
does this tortured soul stand so close to the light
that he cannot see?
Illumination only mesmerizes, hypnotizes, paralyzes
Like the proverbial deer at the moment of cessation...
Information is categorized, compartmentalized, memorized, analyzed
Being aware of the omniscience of the Light
yet failing to truly live in the Presence
accepting a nodding acquaintance with the Power
relying instead on static belief systems
dogmas, precepts, and societal norms
Being lulled into dull-witted somnambulence by electronic hypnosis,
non-edifying behavior and speech
Filling that hole in the soul with temporal surcease
which brings no peace, and gives no release

Peace, Joe
in the big MT
seeking the serendipitous magical mysteries of life's ubiquitous twisteries

I loved the way this read.  Rolls off the tongue.

Always drink upstream from the herd.
