She lets the darkness know
her intentions. And solutions.
Flitting mirror illusions --
this is not me, this is not me,
she says in silent eyes.

The depth is not to be dismayed,
the warmless coverlet, the space
between the ceiling and the floor.
Shake for the reasons
that you shake for.

The coldest breath on back of neck --
like winter worms, tightening grip,
cloying burning scented breeze
lost to ice
and circumstance.

Did I ask you, she asks
to mirror glass. Did I call
for this information?
Did I beg
for cease of ease?

And the wind answers
whatever she wants it to.
Tonight it's saying "No."
Tomorrow it says
"Yes." (more, too.)

The coldest breath on back of neck --
the middle on a night-weighed staircase.
The moon's a button. Focus on it
as it ravels from its thread.

It falls, flashing. How we know
the lipless form of several words
that turn the night to memories.
Sensations. Yes -- this,
and no. That. Fades out with the light.

God Mikey . . .
how do you make the sun and moon and star
and grass and sky SPEAK?

The coldest breath on back of neck --
the middle on a night-weighed staircase.
The moon's a button. Focus on it
as it ravels from its thread.

I'd have to say this is one of your best Mike and so far my favourite.

Keeping it.
