choosing a palette

pull out his eyes,
and/or apologize

to the little boy in the corner,
crying,cursing,
at the way you slipped:
cross first.

Background psalms,
breathed into the corner
arching backs
dropping jaws.

Slipping off tongues
onto the floor.
rage or fear?
Are you good at riddles?

Then bury me in the old churchyard.
With two to sing,
two to pray,
and two to carry my soul away,
from tongues slipping off
palm crucifixes,
like rulers crackslipping off
knuckles.

Alright, this is fairly controversial. Let me first off say, I'm not insulting the Catholic religion in any way, shape, or form. This is a memory of about 12 years ago, shaped by my current thoughts and the words of James Joyce. Once again, let me know what you think. All feedback is welcome. Note the title. I'm thinking about turning this into a series, depending on what people think :p
