If they told me I was dying
I really couldn't complain,
I had two parents that loved me,
Satisfaction few attain.

I've had a few prayers answered,
God's works are simply great,
I've seen miracles everywhere
This has taught me faith.

I've brought life into this world,
I've sadly taken it too
The first is unforgettable,
The other will always haunt you.

I've gained my share of money,
I can purchase material things,
Can't take any with me,
Nor the pleasure they say it brings.

I've watched my children grow healthy,
Through laughter, joy and tears,
They grew so very quickly,
What's happened to all the years?

Wealth's not measured in money,
Nor what you have in the banks,
Laughter and love of family and friends,
For this I truly give thanks.

Toe...Thoughtful and sincere, this poem...it's good to take time to appreciate, good to do it more times than most of us do.  Thanks for the reminder.  Hugs!

Toe,
Yup, just one experience will readjust priorities! But it's okay I still thing you're a wise guy.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

For a no-account like you, these are words one can bank on for sure. Toerag, in the bank that counts, you're a millionaire, my friend....

When you write with humor, it's always the best kind, wry and unexpected because it comes from insight into the way things really are.

Let no one ever say that's all Toerag is good for. There's grace and wisdom too, and still the brilliant insight carries through it. You're a rich man, my friend.

Toe darling man, you know there is in your words such truth and wonder I’m quite misty-eyed. You definitely have made lives richer by far, than they would have been if not for your touch. Certainly I count myself among those who’ve you’ve reached out and touched thank you dear one.

Wonderful writing from a wonderful man, and you are my friend you really are.

Love you always
and forever

Doesn't take too much to realize that wealth is not measured by wealth does it?  To sit and reflect on blessing is a wonderful experience and to recall moments now that have slipped away awakens the mind to seek those moments out yet again.

Thank you for this poem and giving me the chance to reflect on what I have in my cheque book that really matters Mr. Toerag - you have indeed done a wonderful poem here today.  Take care.
