Dead Water

The sun has rot the boards to shrink
And I have not a drop to drink
The wind has stopped upon my face
It lays on me in hot embrace

The water stays as smooth as glass
And sun reflects like polished brass
The sails are limp without a bend
And I lay here without a friend.

The ship keeps whispering in creeks
To me it shouts in dying shrieks
The ropes lie dead upon the deck
And I see nothing but a wreck

The quiet is a doldrums sea
That brings a silent prayer of plea
To say it would amuse your ear
It is a cold and frosting beer.

A pick me up to toast the ghost
I see a door and phantom host.

Bottoms up on that frosty mug! This one made me thirsty for more fine rhyme, especially that first stanza.

I shall send you a door, m'friend
to see you round this weighty bend
one that will clear the mists at sea
so all the stars come out for thee...

No beer, just a hug for this somehow ironical song, always penned so beautifully and shared with love.
Plenty of friends here!

Good morning, Mr. T.!

I applaud you on this fine sonnet. You pulled me right onto that ship with you!--and then we sailed out of the doldrums and into a beautiful sunrise in the horizon!

Loveya, T-Man!

May love and light always shine upon you!

JM,
Make believe is fun and I do enjoy a cold beer once in a while. Randy only books my flights. Isabel my cruises and she did do well on the last one. God your surprise package today and it was a delight to open.
I'll write tonight.
