A dim man it is
proselytizing in the dirt
like a flower planted upside down
in arms so warm
to sit as mute as stone
waiting for an energetic dog
to excavate him out of the ground

Scars, fires, other men's clothes,
orbits that meet jump their tracks
trade directions like trains
at the end of a line
with little or no courtesy
no high desert breeze or
even a cactus to look at
sometimes

Eventually
a lover pulls him out of the ground
and drags him to the dentist
where he reads People magazine and
bleeds in relative quiet
and agrees for some reason
to come back in next week
and pay for this again

I keep my secrets
in a script of crayon
on the sign that's taped to the back
of your shirt
At night when you undress and turn your head
I hide it under the couch...

My eyes are on the inside
like the lights of planes in clouds

Jason...wow...I REALLY enjoyed this!
Love where it took my mind while reading it.

Very nicely penned, my friend.
