White Buffalo Woman
By: Noah Eaton
9/23/02

White buffalo woman, with four ages cursing your veins
Play to us your sacred pipe of petaowihankeshini, let your voice smoulder
As AnpetuWi, the great sun, is my witness
Accustom my soul to that of my Grandmother and Grandfather

Guide me, let me walk like a living prayer
Build me as a bridge between the sacred Above and Beneath
And I will swallow the earth and sky and fire with this evanescent spoon
For in the sacred code of family we are one in entirety

Open up your bundle before these weary pair of eyes
And I will offer you this wacanga that purifies the soul
Let so the breath of the Grandfather Mystery tremble
Between the legged and the winged and all that speak so

I shall hold this chanunpa my grandfather has bestowed to me
Vigilantly watching as you roll four times into the learned white calf
And play it to hold back these waters from this sacred circle
I share with my people, for my most precious blooded children at long last

I sit beside this campfire, awaiting for your return
Sprinkling the wild turnip on, enriching our common creed
For my flesh and blood bleeds like that of you
I will sacrifice every drop for the sake of our humanity

White buffalo woman, from this wooden stem I let flow
The seeds of creation and the spotted eagle's fearless cry
White buffalo woman, we shall meet again
The spirits will not rest, born again may who die...

I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth
I can see the sun set and I perceive

***Live***

Noah, I too was impressed with ron's poem, and he will be impressed with this methinks, as am I.

You are forever bringing people and scenes to life with your words.

This is stunning m friend. And the picture, wow!

Noah I am sitting here reading and can't stay focused, and I've done the same to all the others I've been reading this morning. I'm going to go away for a couple of hours and come back. I want to read and give a comment then. I don't know why I can't stay focused this morning. I'll be back later.
Love,
