I don't keep a calendar or remember dates
I never have, I don't recall the exact day my father died,
but I remember him fondly, with love.

I'm better at making excuses and passing them on
(this one's for you)
it's not my fault that I wasn't born blonde
I was meant to be, semi-naturally.

I may not carry my weight the same as you do, but I hold it well.
I have my pride, I try, and I cry easily
please don't remind me again, you know who I am.

The fact remains, I forgot your Birthday
and it saddens me that it passed without a word
or a thought of you, you, who fills up the weeks in my life.

Oh I don't mind letting you beat me up
(I'm your very own personal assistant, hooray for you)
you're good with the hammer and nail
and I look forward to the bantering, makes my day.

Just give it to me straight!!

I may be a sensitive sort, and your first clue was?
But when it's all said and done, friends like you make my world go round
and it's important to me,that you know who you are.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Ispired by my coworkers Birthday who is a dear friend to me, and I missed it*
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..............
Oh...don't you just hate when that happens?
Been there, done that...
Funny thing, I told him today I was sick of babying the program I was working on, and he says, "I know all about that Lori"  LOL...see what I mean, like I'm such a big baby!!!   But at least he sends me mail!
Thanks for the read Susan~
Vicky~ Isn't it the worst, especially when I think of all the good gag gifts I could have come up with.  Instead I'm gonna have to break down and buy him some tokens for the batting cages...and let him pretend he can hit one out on me!!!     Thanks for your nice comments.
(big hugggssssssss) Oh shoot...you are not alone, I too have made this mistake before, and I won't lie to you, but a few years agoI forgot my own father's birthday and I still feel so bad about that and make sure I never repeat that mistake and haven't yet! (sigh) I know deep down your friend knows you do really care and all's forgiven, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lori, thank you for sharing!
May love and light always shine upon you!
Lori,
This was such a great write, poignantly
said. I too sometimes don't remember dates
that well, and as earlier said, "don't you
just hate when this happens?".
take care.
Just give it to me straight! My feelings exactly. Why is this so hard. I feel for you. I closed my dad's eyes after death and remember his birthday. Does that make me a better person? I Don't think so.
I do believe that this poem makes for a very fine present!--and it would not have come into being if you had remembered his birthday! lol
Belated birthday wishes for your friend!
Well what a great excuse for an "Un-Birthday" I love those, and gift myself them all the time!  Unfortuantely, I tend to give them to others that are not quite so receptive but hey, who ever said we were all perfect?  Give him the poem in a card, and I see you changed your picture
Bluesy Girl,
Today is my son's birthday and I saw it coming. Still didn't get him a card sent. See! It could be worse. Miss ya'!
If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
and I've done it so many times
I've lost count.
Love the write!
And you know what he said, just pull your weight Lori!
Thanks tweets~
Lauren~  Tis true, there are some things we would rather forget.
Thank you for your lovely reply...  I've missed you here.
Saunni~ He tries to make me feel awful,  but it will never happen.
He knows I know, and vice versa~  Thanks
Hiya Rat~  I tend to take all the teasing as a token
of affection,  I mean if a person didn't like you why would
they try to get a reaction out of you in the first place.
I had a feeling you were on the same page.  Glad I gotcha pardner!
