Passing The Torch
By Paul Wilson

The years have come and gone so fast
Seems like it was just yesterday
I wish those special times would last
When just you and I use to play

We’ve had our share of arguments
You never saw my side of things
Your mother spoke in your defense
Called “Punkin” her angel with wings

I pass the torch to you my son
It’s time for me to step aside
The race is now yours to be won
Remember… never lose your pride

Do your best is all I can say
Just like my father said to me
Always count your blessings each day
To your future this is the key

You have a family of your own
Two sons and a wife that love you
Into a fine young man you’ve grown
Mom and Dad will always love you

My flame now burns within your heart
As bright as the sun in the sky
From this world I will soon depart
With you my flame will never die

"To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you"

(big hugggsssssss) But until then, keep running along with him on the sidelines and cheer him on, as you are his hero and he'll always love you and he will always be your little boy! (wipes tears) This made me cry as it is sooooooo beautiful, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Paul, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Paul,
I love the image of permanency in this one.

Paul, I am so glad that I read past the first page of posts.  I absolutely loved this piece.  I have my own son.  He's 13 and with no prompting from me or my husband decided to join the Air Cadets!!! He has always been such a source of pride for me... but I cannot take the credit... I believe he did it all on his own.  God bless you and yours.  He has certainly blessed us.

Your poem made me take a look into my own future and see such promise that I am grateful for the read. Thank you for this.

Sherry...Thank you so much for reading. You did have something to do with your sons decision in an unknowing way, you and your husband instilled that pride and honor in him as he was growing up.  You know we have to teach our children things they never learn in school. Thank you so much for your sweet and kind words...Paul

Crystal...I don't know about being a great man. I just try to do what is right and share my heart with all of you. So glad you enjoyed this, thanks for the words of praise...Paul

Joe...Glad you liked this. I really appreciate you taking time to read and for your reply. Things weren't always smooth between us when he was growing up but now that he has a family of his own he understands some of what I was trying to tell him when he was a teenager. Thanks again my friend...Paul
