Your Absence

Your absence left a void too dark to bear
And cravings ever felt yet never stilled.
Each night, in dreams, Your presence stemmed despair,
Renewed each dawn in hopes gone unfulfilled.

Your loss was felt with every moment passed,
As anguish for decisions rashly made
And knowledge that each pain of pride would last
Until the debts for foolish acts were paid.

Your love, so prized, Was gone and daily mourned,
As was the lack of holding you so near,
With consequence for all too oft forewarned
The loss of all my heart had deemed as dear.

No punishment enacted or supposed
Could equal these my soul has self imposed.

An empty heart here! true words spoken, deep and sad.

One sided love affairs are painful,   but in the end it is easier for some to walk away than to forgive, or so it would seem.  Then again maybe it wasn't worth it to begin with.

You write so nice David~

david,

damn, did i felt this one! you wrote
your heart so well, and although very
sad writing...your strength still
shines through. continue to write, it
will help.
take care.
