Conflicted echos shall our ruins sound
when, cracked amongst the footed roots of trees,
by chance unearthed, they’re puzzled from the ground.
Resurrection may elicit sympathy.
A tear may fall where ash of Rome abound.
But what deft hand to stitch the binding tie,
a tender patchworkd recollect of struggle:
the grounded knee, the smiling, favored child,
the honeyed tongue, the neck, the rope, the rafter.
Pieced from matchstick bones of Babel:
ignominy, the surge of crowds, disaster
faced, or fled from, chronicled in rhyme.
When paper fails, the poets dead and after:
king and fool, orphan, widow, lime.

Amazing work, and a brilliant entrance, if I do say so myself.

Jason, Sir, Welcome to Passions!  I have a hard time with sonnets, as I can never get the meter quite right, but it looks to me as if you've done a fair job...please, as you get to know us, make yourself welcome in the Poetry Workshop...we have some sonnet Kings and Queens in there that love to share...

Please, check your E-mail for a Special Greeting!

Karilea - if I whisper, will you listen?

True poets don't write with the ink of quill or pen, but with the ink of their heart~
