A chance meeting on the square
and the chill of autumn's kiss
brings longing for summer's wine
Warmth so the soul may linger...
Anesthetic to the ache of regret
I cover it neatly with a smile
wondering
if you hear my heart break
over footsteps in the
leaves

Know that with every footfall
A piece of me
Shatters, splintering my soul
Like an icicle falling from tree
In the hush of winter's death
Does not the ache in my eyes
Plead for you to warm me
With your kiss-
Protect me with your strength
Caress the softness of my skin
Like the wrap of a warm spring day
And I shall whisper your name to the wind
Show me that you will not throw me away
As the season rids itself of life
To hibernate in the shield of cold indifference

Utter words that bind me,
willingly unto you,
so that I may hear your voice
in the swirl of November wind
and know this love survives.

The truth:

Ed and I started talking (poetry of course) and found a lot in common. I suggested we duet.  He wrote most of it and I am in complete awe.

Thank you

Thank you Koko and Karilea!

Susan and Ed:

this is timeless . . .
something forged from the Earth itself

if you hear my heart break
over footsteps in the
leaves

God, what a beautiful lines
Amazing joining here
of two exceptional writers
