Between the Lines

0 posted 2003-09-30 09:43 AM

I fondle the words,
those navigating my thoughts
all to often slipping away like grains of sand
through these fingers, tired
from reaching the tattered.
Their loss of color
lessened by the sun's
shortness of breadth.

I try to stay away,
brushing the words aside
but they are fastened
tight to hold,
a voice inside my wind
encountering their touch
as they play my strings
taunting me into challenge,
to open up tear eyes
in darkness seeking light.

I live my days through night,
the pacing and rhythm
a hike through the past
resting at each timbered crossing,
those planks that lead me on
coursing my way, edging me closer
to a tomorrow I dread.

I think back on those moments
where fear held me back,
keeping me from the enjoyments offered,
when fear ruled me, its voice unprepared
and I, regressing, lapsing
into my own prophecy of failure.

I give up those tender for you,
"an escape from emotion,"
my words faltering, depressing to others
as I hold onto that which I can no longer spirit,
so gravely are my thoughts of late.

I am the forgotten one,
inside I know that, the shadows
having explored me, shrouding me in black,
spinning me so that I have no sense of direction
always coming back to you,
"the empty, with no reason"
recalling only a beach somewhere
and a hand touching mine, holding me up
as the waves pounded the shore and the grains of sand
slipped beneath me.

He was there, was there, was there...
then left me too...and I, not able to help
as he was to me, I shall be to you.

M

in your words I find much to ponder..and depths to feel..

as he was to you...

sending lots of hugs and smiles along to you, please catch them, wishing you a vastly wonderful day today, forget it all, the fears, the past, take one moment and look at the beauty...you deserve all that life has to offer.  Love Lee J.
