September 30, 2003

On days there is no wind
The rain falls straight from clouds
No slant to the flood of drops
Just free fall from above
That splatters with muted pound
And spreads to puddles

The grey portends coming months
When such offerings from heaven
May spell a treacherous slick
And I am left pondering,
As windshield wipers
Slap rhythmic time
In efforts to swipe away
The road spray from a line
Of commuters heading as I am
To another day,
How easily we might lose control
And spin or tumble into some
Ravine or field
Lifeless or maimed

Love was like that for me
All too often an out of control crash
That skidded to a stop
Someplace along a deserted stretch
Of time as the seasons of one heart
Or the other
Began to change

I’ve gotten good it seems,
At pulling dents from a battered soul
And painting over the scratches
Left behind from such times
But each time insuring again
That such will not wreck the
Patched work I am
Only to be surprised
When I find the road too slick
Or too narrow to avoid.

Today
The drive in was slow
Giving me too much time
To remember rainy days
Spent in a hay filled loft
Wrapped in you
and the road again,
became treacherous.

Once again,
you've made me smile...
can you see it
through the rain?

You know Ron...
there is nothing quite like,
waking up to a read from you
and a hot cup of tea....
I think it must feel
like a little piece of heaven..
I sure hope so!

Those highway crews fail miserably when it comes to marking approaching danger, right? *S*

Excellent write... I like this very much!

Ron...I know it could be dangerous, but would you mind sending some of that rain this way?  Again you capture emotion through nature's imagery.  Well done!

those skid marks get harder to cover up as time goes by

but they are proof that you lived, and were not just a passerby on this road of life

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Ron, tis is wonderful, sweet friend, I would really be thankful if you sent some of that rain here, the deserts of Colorado need it! (sigh) If you can see through the rain, you can make it through, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ron, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
