in the shadows

Faith dances
carefree beyond style,
a Greek waiter smashing destiny
like dinner plates,
love waits
watching from the wings,
smiling
on the edge of cheap sardonic laughter,
knowing
anything the heart goes after
can step sideways without notice,
slipping
through the crowded smokey rooms of life
choosing
any one of many doors of opportunity,
to vanish in the night.

this had a dreamy waltz feel to it. I need to learn that sublety...this is very lovely

She can treat you that way if you allow her to escape, and sometimes if your wine isn't clear enough she'll go where she thinks a richer drink is served.

But if you commit and she knows it, she'll stay and keep you on top of her dance card.
