I touched your face
You came to me
I slipped—
I could not hold you in my arms—
For whose arms can encircle the world?
Certainly no human
Has ever been born
Who can hold the swirling of life in their palms—
Or contain its
Spinning, jumping light
in a jar—
Or paint the turquoise-golden redness that blurs
The wind—
And so I cannot hold you my love—

I touched your mind—
But recoiled
From the immensity of the
Blackness there—
Too many stars for me to comprehend shone, but still
The ebony space threatened my humanity—

And you were there beside me
All the while
Laughing—
Laughing at my confusion—
Softly—
And you reached out to take me in your arms—
And I fell into them
Slipping into the whispers that told me the truth
And told me the lies—
Wrapped myself in them—
Cloaked in whispers—
And slept, oh, so warm—
Protected by the secret of your being.

You move this poem beautifully, and your imagery is scintillating. Can't ask for better than this.
