For The Children
By Paul Wilson

Children fight their battles each day
Against a foe that never dies
Parents asking God for hope pray
As tears of despair fill their eyes

For them… another test today
Everyone hoping for the best
Now too weak to go out and play
All they can do is sleep and rest

Test results will be back by noon
Every minute seems like a year
Grandma brings a big red balloon
With a hug, kiss and words of cheer

With no hair they think it’s real cool
More blood work is scheduled today
A get well card arrives from school
Classmates send special prayers their way

The girl from room nineteen is gone
She gave her all but lost the fight
The angels came for her at dawn
Her family mourns their loss tonight

The children are brave as can be
With angel smiles your heart they win
A cure for this disease my plea
God let them be healthy again

Dedicated to the children of St. Jude’s Hospital
and all children that have died from cancer

I always said if I ever was to become a woman of money St. Judes is my charity of choice above all. Touching childrens lives and that even without insurance coverage, or money. The most, loving, giving, unselfish thing that can be. I loved reading this, and it's my prayer the children and the hospital prospers much!!! What a loving 2000th

Love,
Shara~

(tears fall down my cheeks) God Bless You, dearest friend, your loving golden heart is what brings hope and strength to these children at St. Jude's, and they need just a man like you who can comfort them and give their hearts smiles! (wipes tears) It saddens me to see children dying of cancer and I pray with all my heart a cure can be found for all forms of it soon, as I pray for all the children of the world everyday! Congratulations on 2,000 wonderful posts, sweet friend, I couldn't imagine a more lovelier way to celebrate a milestone, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Paul, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

ultimately all we can offer those who are "chronic" is empathy, care, and concern, in whatever way we decide.  this was a beautiful tribute.

This is very poignient and very good...
I used to do work for St. Judes when I was stationed at NAS Millington (near memphis), and this write does all of the volunteers hard work very proud...
You should send it to them...

Major congrats on reaching this milestone...

I couldn't help but read on through the tears.  This touched my heart.  I'll join you in that prayer.  Young or old, I cannot say there would be one person who's life has not been touched by the trials and tragedy of cancer.

Well Done Sir!!! And Congradulations!!!

Sherry

Paul this is sadly beautiful and a loving tribute to the children who fight the good fight with smiles on their faces. I have been in this situation with our daughter who was 16 when she came down with cancer.

Thankfully and with a grateful heart to God, she survived and is a happy and healthy 29 year old. Seems like a million years ago but just yesterday.

A poem worthy of your 2000 posts.

Hugs and luvs, Marti
