Listening to every heart

0 posted 2003-09-28 06:42 PM

Meghan’s Song [Kaoru’s Challenge]

“She is too demanding”
as reasoning flies out windows
while age lines the music of this soul
around my eyes, to pick, “just one” song
that makes me feel…

“how righteous” it sounds in my mind
to go way back and stump those that weren’t
even a twinkle yet, as
boys on the beach still play in the sand
and diamonds would lay around
my throat,
if I could pick, just one

but it’s a newer older version of me
that hears the question held tight
when a man really, really longs to
love a woman, when a certain guitar starts,

and I listen…

as he touches her so well, that
he watches his unborn children
dance in her eyes
when a voice of a man can hold me
in that spell
so well

that is when I feel the young poets,
men, and women alike
reaching with their words,
no want for selling their soul

just stretching to touch that moment
to block a throat
skip a heart
my fingers reaching to turn the radio up
to feel those words…

to really know the poet’s thoughts
and see the unborn poems dance down their pen.

Karilea

"as he touches her so well, that
he watches his unborn children
dance in her eyes"

That above is a remarkably beautiful statement and to be touched like that, incredible!  Loved this, sis!!

Oh, Karilea!! I love to hear Bryan Adams sing,
and I love that song, too. I need to look for that
challenge. I love music.......Rod Stewart,
Enya, 'NSYNC,
Diamond Rio.....are just a few.

And, I love the way you put this song into your poem.

I fell in love with him  when I first heard, "The summer of 69" and kept falling after that. It's been so long since I've listened to him but this Sunshinygirl made me fall in love with him all over again.

A challenge met and penned beautifully.

keeping it.

Thanks for looking at this one.  Meghan issued a wonderful challenge, and this is a song that has haunted me ever since the first time I heard it.  It was a challenge in and of itself to do justice to the song, which stands alone.
