Three boys
with a football,
playing one man out,

the baker
in his forties
smiles sadly;

for a second he cradles his bread,
long
fat
hard-crusted,
for a second
like a football,

then he remembers
he's a baker,
in his forties.

(big hugggsssssss) Awwwwwww...who says 40 is too old to play a nice game of football with the boys? (sad sigh) Though he may be older and his tone not like when he was a boy, we are all forever young at heart and I believe we never outgrow anything truly, God Bless You, you express a sensitive side of growing up, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Margherita ~ That is exactly what this image is for me.  Thanks for reading

Martie ~ You wondered about what had been in my head a long time ago.  This one has been in there at least thirty years.  Thanks for asking. *smile*

Susan Caldwell ~ OK!  You go long, I'll go deep; we'll see by morning who can keep up with who. *laugh*

Mistletoe Angel ~ Thanks Noah.  Emil was beaten down by responsibility at a young age.  He would have told you that you were wrong.  (I think you are right.)

losing is more than just being beaten..it is often beating ourselves..
Emil.. seems to have beaten himself early... and forgotten joy

With one toss of that loaf of bread..
Emil would completely forget his age.
I guarantee ya!
Excellent thoughts.

Well, I'm not in my forties. It's been a while. But I'd toss the loaf with him. I toss some business cards with a rubber band around them now and then at work. Sshhhh! Don't tell.

So Emiliano is now in his 70's...
I'll bet he still
cradles the bread, too...

bring the cheese, Ice, I'll bring the wine.
We'll sit with Emiliano.
