“ALL THE FLOWERS”
~~~~
Once when the fragrance of roses
radiated from your hair, and
lilacs soft was the touch of your
skin, your thoughts that whispered
to mine were of the sweetness
of morning glories, and
I loved you then…
Once when we danced close on
a moonlit night a bouquet drifted
on southern breezes warm,
magnolia blossoms tender
was the nearness of hips close,
eyes spoke without words, and
I loved you then…
Yet passions die to whither, ending
within the mist of darkness, as
an ache cries from a fragile
heart inside this being, and all I
can do is ponder, as I search
of where all the flowers have gone,
for ago,
I loved you then…
Bill, I think you may be an even more sentimental fellow than I am. I loved every word of this, resonated to every syllable.
Now I'm a more sentimental guy than I am -- or was, ten minutes ago.
Bill
I love the thought of "ago" being a time...the way you used that word caught me and made me smile.  What a poignant poem!
eyes spoke without words, and
This gave me chills and made my eyes water.
You've got such a way of displaying the  romance,
and tugging at the heart of lost love.
A beautiful poem BC~
Bill-
I swear no one can write a love
poem as lovely as you can! your
words just floated off the page
in this one, your descriptions
painting a picture in all of your
minds. Beautiful write.
take care.
Bill, I'm so glad that you're a hopeless romantic!!     I love your poetry. I could almost smell the flowers in this one. I hope that soon, you will smell the flowers of love again!!
BC...what a haunting verse you write here, beautiful and sad both. Alas, love sometimes is as fragile as the petals from those flowers and as fleeting as the fragrance they leave behind. You write love well
Bill, this is so touching, a sadness throughout, and surely does bring up some memories of my own, I do so try to only remember the good, as it is what keeps me from hating. I just don't want to hate, it hurts me more than anyone else. You have written with sensitivity and even though maybe the sadness is what prevails, you have written this with a wonderful style.
Bill...How beautiful; but how heart-wrenching this poem is. The memory of a love lost...haunting. Your writing is so deeply romantic in nature...shows that, though you have lost one love, there is hope of another romance deep within your heart. ***Ivy Rose
I don't remember the last time I danced...
This was beautiful Bill...but it made me wistful for what I don't have...
Guess I will just have some chocolate..
