I have been keeping a journal, but this is my first poem.  I just started Middle School (I am 12 years old) and my friends and I started writing poetry.  You should have seen the look on Mom's face when I told her I wanted to post.

DREAM (My first post)

I CLOSE MY EYES AND DREAM
FOR IT’S A DREAM I’LL NEVER GET
I DREAM, DREAM, AND DREAM AGAIN
BUT STILL I HAVE NOTHING YET
THEY SAY A DREAM IS JUST A DREAM UNTIL YOU TRY AND
GET IT
SO I TRY, TRY, AND TRY AGAIN
BUT STILL YOU DON'T SEE
HOW TRUE AND DEAR YOU ARE TO ME
I DON'T THINK ABOUT A CHANCE WITH YOU
FOR IT'S ONE I'LL NEVER GET
DON'T YOU SEE IT'S A DREAM THAT I REGRET

You're the daughter of one of this group's most beautiful poets...easy to see that she's passed on the talent to you. It's moving, to read the work of someone as young as you, with this kind of quality. You have a future in poetry, if you choose to pursue it.

I'm glad you posted this, and I hope you give us more.

Chel, I am so proud of you.  I wish Passions was around when I started writing at your age.  But the personal computer wasn't even around then...Gosh, I am so old.  This is the place where you belong.  READ, child, and learn from the greats so that you will grow in your work!

I am so proud of you!

Welcome to Passions!
I love your DREAM, very nice first post.

It's quite natural that you should be gifted too with a Mom like yours, whose poems we love so very much.

Great decision to write poetry!

Hi Chelsea!  Great first post!
My name's Duncan.  I'm the resident porch puppy.  Sunshine and the others keep me tied up here most the time because I tend to chase cats, cars and other fun stuff when they don't!
Hope you like it here and thanks for sharing your poetry with us.

Dear CP,

Don’t ever be afraid to go after any and all such dreams that you so desire. And never ever feel undeserving of such dreams. For in life, as you will soon find out. The only person who can prevent all things wonderful from becoming your reality... is yourself...

Welcome to Passions!

And give your dear mother a big hug for us, and tell her she did very well!

Like all the rest of us, I got a feeling she’ll tell you, you did too!

excellent writing, very impressive for
one your age! keep it up...and you will
get better and grow with age and time!
Your Mom as I can clearly see she is and
should be, is so proud of you...as we all
are. I hope to see more from you in the near
future. But if you chooses not to continue
to post, then keep your journal. That is
a good thing, and will help you as you go
through life! take care.

Well -- as if we needed more proof than Nan and Martie that writing can run in a family....now we can rest our case.

Nicely done, little lady -- you've charmed us all.

Of course now you HAVE to send more, you do know that, don't you?

I know that your Mom is proud of you.
I am, too!! This is a wonderful first

reading more of your poems. It's really
great that you're writing poetry. I kind
of knew when your Mom told us that you and
your sister were reading some of the poems,
that you would be posting soon. You
know what else? I like that you wrote a poem
about dreams. I love to write about dreams, too.
Oh, my name's Ethel.

Hi... I remember when I was a little girl..I would be sitting in my room writing everything I felt down on paper. Little did I know it would lead me to this point where just about 2 years ago I started writing. My little girl years was another lifetime ago so that should tell you I'm gettin' old. So I am glad to see you writing so early. Poetry is a beautiful thing. It's an extension of yourself, and a gift given to your spirit within. (you'll know what that means a little later) Your first post was amazing. It captivated me all the way through. I couldn't stop reading. Thanks for sharing, and congrats on embarking on this lierary adventure of your life. Words will get you far in life when used well, and that you did. Words can make you soar! Beautiful!!!
Celebrate life!!

Best of luck in all your endeavours,

hmmmmm 12 you say? well the insight into dreaming and of regret due to a dream is expressed here in a way that would have someone think you were older than 12..

posting... writing... of the two.. writing is more important, but the posting and the feedback you can get..the assurance that others understand the things you express is comforting at times....

I hope you continue to share with us here...and to write... much to explore with words...and much to learn... for all of us.

welcome to PIP....

sorry I missed this and am late with a reply... somedays as they say are diamonds and some days are rust... my mind of late has followed the model of rust...

I don't think we need to tell her that youth has wisdom...she probably already knows.

Chelsea, I am absolutely thrilled to see you posting here at Passions! I feel as tho' I already know you through the wonderful things you have passed on to me thru' your terrific Mom and Poetess! Your warm comments have been inspiring me to write more poetry with the younger reader in mind.

Another thing that I would like to comment on is this, young people like you and your friends getting together to write poetry, fills me with joy! Our world needs more of its youth expressing the soul of a poet. Wars would cease, people loving people, more honoring of nature, spiritual growth and harmony. God bless you and your friends. It is people like you who will make this world a better place. Have fun with your writing and I look forward to reading your words, Dear Chelsea!

I enjoyed your very first posted poem!--and it is copyrighted!
