They Never Knew

He watched her and each passing day;
He memorized her walk, her sway
And how her face was framed in wisps
Of golden hair and how her lips
Were like the petals of a rose
On sunlit morn ‘neath dews repose.
He watched her and each passing day;
He sighed and turned, then walked away.

She watched him and each passing week;
She noticed dimples on his cheeks
And how his eyes, in office light,
Reminded her of clouds at night.
She glimpsed the strength of his two hands
And noted lack of wedding band.
She watched him and each passing week;
She dreamed, but never did she speak.

They watched each other through the years.
They noted joy. They saw the tears.
They passed each other in the hall,
But never really talked at all.
They loved each other from afar;
Too scared to hope or wish on stars.
They never really took the chance
And in life’s crazy circumstance…

They watched each other through the years
Though never met, due to their fears.
So, as life goes, they aged, they died
And then were buried… side by side.

~ Ruth

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Ruth, this is so beautiful but so very sad, sweet friend, unrequited love is truly the deepest sadness and I believe it is best to try and let someone know how you feel for even if you're rejected, you know the truth and can move on! (sad sigh) The thought of two graves side by side made me cry in both a mixture of sadness and joy, sweet friend, joy partially because it feels symbolic that there truly was something special between them and now in the heavens they truly have each other forever! God Bless You, sweet friend, this is a true treasure, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ruth, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Ruth, you always did write beautiful poetry. This one is sad. But, just as beautiful, as all of the rest.

It's a favorite of mine, too... I know all too well how it is to be too scared of failure to try... too convinced of rejection to live. *S* Excellent! *S*
