Remembering Linda

Oh she was a beauty,
though I'd never say it,
you my best friend,
and she -- yours.

Gentle defined her,
soft blue eyes that spoke
of things friends don't say,
and soft -- everything.

But I never said it,
never thought the thought,
tried not to think at all,
and stayed -- your friend.

She told you once she was
afraid of me sometimes.
I was hurt, didn't understand.
Now -- I do.

For dingusjr, and for his sweet lady

Nope, ks....Never a possibility of that -- those two are folks we all should envy, soulmates who found each other at first light...grade school, I think, or so close to it that I can't remember a time when they weren't together. I had 'em on a pedestal for that even then.

Those eyes though -- any fellow would wish to see things in them, though only one ever did.

Ed...I thought I replied to this earlier when I first read it.  To have seen the start of this kind of love that continues, is so sweet, as is the friendship you keep!

She sounds like a special lady, indeed... What a beautiful remembrance from a special poet... in a few words, you say quite a lot about you, your friend... and the lovely Linda... all good. *S*
