finding gravity

i watch Scorpio sink into her realm
her jointed stinger an erection of emotion
her pincers snapping at stars
trying to keep Orion at bay

he seems to be laying low tonight
his weaponry
dim

this is unusual for him

the sky drapes over my shoulders
and you my love tower my thoughts

there’ve been too many nights without
to suddenly now be with
if you could only feel my words
touch them with your finger tips

the way you touch your fly-by passion

Orion shoots an arrow
it crosses the black finding gravity
i find myself wishing upon it
for us

but

like Scorpio
i'll continue to snap my pincers

like Orion
you'll continue to shoot your arrows

they’ll only find gravity

and i’ll keep wishing upon them

for us

fate is not just
whose cooking  smells good
but which way the wind blows

(Ani DiFranco)

Maree...you already know that I LOVE this.
It reads so lightly...it floats off the page,
and the imagery?...gorgeous!

SO good to see you writing!

Maree, Wow! I’m gonna have to break out my son’s little telescope and check this stuff out!
It must have been real creative and curious people like yourself. Who long ago, laid down under the night sky, and conjured up all these fantastic astrological figures. And all the great stories that went with them.

Talk about romantic!

This was so cool Maree!
I love your imagination!

Maree, this is so wonderful. I must admit, I have been "brain blocked" in my own writing lately.  You, however, have let the words and images flow so exquisitely, calling me to attempt to capture that which has escaped me for too long.

I believe it is called INSPIRATION!

Thanks!

Such a soft and beautiful declaration....you move me. I wish I had written this poem, even though I wouldn't have done it justice.

In winter months, Orion rises directly over the home where I grew up... I guess that's why there's something about seeing that constellation that grounds me. *S* But I always, always, make a wish. *S*

This is a beautiful write... I enjoyed it tremendously. *S*

Especially loved the closing Mmy- very cool poem.

... and what a treat-- a poem from both Babyroo and Tigger in the same week.
